Miss Universe 2014, the 63rd edition of the Miss Universe pageant will be held on 25 January 2015 at U.S. Century Bank Arena at Florida International University in Doral, Miami, Florida, USA. Natalie Morales Rhodes and Thomas Robert have been selected to host the prestigious Miss Universe 2014 pageant. The finals will be held on 25 January in Doral- Miami, Florida. The pageant will air live from the FIU Arena, IMG will be the executive producers of the gala event, and the pageant will be simulcast in Spanish and Telemundo. Natalie Morales Rhodes had previously co-hosted the Miss Universe pageant in the year 2010 and 2011. Thomas Robert made his debut as an Anchor in the Miss Universe beauty pageant last year. The contestants from across the globe will get to experience the best of Doral-Miami, Florida. This is the first time that the pageant has skipped a year; nevertheless the pageant is expected t be grand affair with live performances and the beautiful contestants giving their best to win the coveted crown. This year the Miss Universe organization will present a new crown which will be unveiled on the final night. Faddya Isabel Halabi Troisi from Venezuela has been crowned the Miss Tourism International 2014/15 at the finals of the 18th edition of the Miss Tourism International held on new year's eve at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The 26-year old beauty from Venezuela defeated 58 other contestants to win the first ever Miss Tourism International title for Venezuela. Faddya Troisi with this win also becomes the first ever contestant from South America to don the Miss Tourism International crown. She succeeds Angeli Dione Gomez of Philippines, the Miss Tourism International 2013/14. Warangkanang Wutthayakorn from Thailand finished as the first runner-up and was crowned Miss Tourism Queen of the Year 2014, followed by Glennifer Perido from Philippines who was adjudged the second runner-up and was crowned Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2014. The third runner-up was Charina Maria Diminique Bartels of Netherlands who was crowned Miss Tourism Global International 2014 and the fourth runner-up Sun Wen Cong from China who was crowned Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International 2014. The Top 10 finalists also included Rasshmi Raajput (India), Giovanna Cordeiro (Paraguay), Mafo Victoria Waniko (Nigeria), Gaby Veliz (Guatemala) and Katya Fomina (Belarus).

Witney Shikongo was crowned as Miss Angola 2015 at the gala event held on Belas Conference Centre, the Futungo. She will now represent Angola Miss Universe 2015. She competed alongside twenty five other contestants and managed to impress the jury. Zuleica Wilson (Miss Angola 2014) crowned Witney Shikongoas her successor. Miss Angola 2014, Zuleica Wilson, born in the province of Cabinda, will represent Angola at Miss Universe 2014 which will take place on January 25, 2015. Witney Shikongo, is just nineteen years old and stands tall at 180cm. She hails from the province of Huila. Witney Shikongo wishes to showcase Angola women as intelligent, strong and capable. Witney Shikongo will now represent Angola at Miss Universe 2015, she also received a Car, Mobile gadgets, and Makeup gift hampers a watch and a check worth USD 1,500. Witney Shikongo also won the Miss Congeniality award. At the same event, Andreia Dias, from the province of Luanda was elected as the 1st Lady of Honour and Miriam Rodrigues, Miss Angola UK was elected as the 2nd Lady of Honour. Tania Joseph, representative of Namibe province received the Miss Photogenic award.

Hold your breath, the stunning Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss is going to visit Asia in her first leg of travelling in January. Miss Rolene will visit India, Hong Kong, China and Philippines and contribute towards the Beauty with a Purpose projects from each of these countries.On returning to South Africa after being crowned as the Miss World 2014, Rolene received an astounding welcome from the locals. During a press briefing at Kempton Park, Mr. Steven Morley, told the reporters that the newly appointed Miss World would be travelling across the globe and contribute towards the beauty with a purpose cause, he also elaborated that Rolene would keep returning to South Africa and take up different humanitarian causes. The Miss World organization also assured that they will discuss the various issues faced by locals with the South African government and work with them to resolve the same. Rolene also cleared the rumours of her being a test tube baby and being genetically modified,Rolene simply smiled and said she is thankful to her mother and father for their good genes.After visiting Asian countries in January, the Miss World will then travel to the Caribbean countries and the South America. In March Miss World 2014 is expected to travel to Indonesia, Australia, Argentina and Fiji. Rolene will be the first Miss World to travel to Argentina. In each of these countries she will be working on various humanitarian causes.On her maiden visit to India she is expected to contribute to India’s Beauty with a Purpose project which focuses on Sanitization issues in India. In Philippines she is expected to continue the work done by the former Miss World, Megan Young.

Natalie Morales Rhodes and Thomas Robert have been selected to host the prestigious Miss Universe 2014 pageant. The finals will be held on 25 January in Doral- Miami, Florida. The pageant will air live from the FIU Arena, IMG will be the executive producers of the gala event, and the pageant will be simulcast in Spanish and Telemundo. Both the hosts of Miss Universe 2014 have previous experience of hosting the event. Natalie Morales Rhodes had previously co-hosted the Miss Universe pageant in the year 2010 and 2011. Natalie is an American broadcast journalist, working for NBC news. She is the anchor of “TODAY” show, Co- Anchor of “Third Hour” and makes several appearances on other programs like “Dateline NBC” and “NBC Nightly News”. Natalie comes from a defence background and speaks Spanish and Portuguese. She has exceptional stage presence and is very popular personality; she is definitely the right choice to be the host of Miss Universe 2014. Thomas Robert made his debut as an Anchor in the Miss Universe beauty pageant last year. He will be hosting Miss Universe back to back this year also. He is a popular television journalist and has been working as a news anchor for MSNBC since April 2010. Thomas currently hosts “Way Too Early”; he also works as an NBC correspondent. Thomas has recently hosted the Miss USA 2014 pageant in June 2014. The 25th edition of Miss Bulgaria national beauty pageant was held on 21st December 2014, Nansi Nikolaeva Karaboycheva, the Miss Bulgaria 2013, crowned her successor - Simona Evgenieva in a gala event. A total of sixteen beautiful Bulgarian ladies competed for the coveted crown. Simona Evgenieva was declared the winner after a series of preliminary events. Simona will now go on to represent Bulgaria at the Miss World 2015 international beauty pageant.Simona Evgenieva is 20 years old and hails from Montana; she dazzled the jury in her stunning red gown. Soon after being crowned as the new Miss Bulgaria, an excited Simona told the reporter from NTV about her fitness mantra, she said that she maintains her shape with the help of healthy food and a strict fitness regime. Simona Evgenieva reportedly has a twin sister too. At the same event Daniel Dimitrov from Sofia was crowned the first runner up and Maria Tsvetanova was declared the second runner up respectively.

The Miss World pageant will not have a swimsuit round from the next year's competition onwards, as per the announcement made by the pageant chairwoman Julia Morley stressing 'Beauty with a Purpose' aspect of the pageant. As per the organizers, Miss World is not just a beauty queen, she should be more like an ambassador; a spokesperson who can to help a community. In an interview with Elle, Mrs Morley explained "I don't need to see women just walking up and down in bikinis. It doesn't do anything for the woman. And it doesn't do anything for any of us." She added "I don't care if someone has a bottom two inches bigger than someone else's. We are really not looking at her bottom. We are really listening to her speak." Mrs Morley also revealed that she is hoping to set her competition apart from other pageants by emphasizing brains and personality over physical beauty. Miss World, which was founded in 1951 by Mrs Morley's late husband Eric, in fact started as a contest dedicated exclusively to swimwear and was called the Festival Bikini Contest. In 1951, when Kiki Hakansson won Miss World, she was crowned on stage in a bikini. Ever since then swimsuit round has been an integral and important part of Miss World pageant, and has been very popular with the audience too, who do love seeing beautiful women showing off their enviable figures in tiny two-pieces. In recent years, the Miss World pageant has elected not to broadcast the swimsuit or bikini portion of the show, and the girls were being judged privately in front of a small panel as part of Beach Fashion round. But as of 2015, the organizers have decided to do away with the swimsuit round altogether. Besides beach fashion round, Miss World also features a fashion round, a talent round and a sports round and the most important “Beauty with a Purpose" round where contestants do charity work. Hats off to Julia for taking such a revolutionary initiative by removing the swimsuit contest, which otherwise is the most popular segment of any beauty pageant. Will the national contests responsible for selecting their country's representative for Miss World follow and also ban swimsuit contests from their national pageants?

Finally the most awaited grand pageant, Miss World 2014 comes to an end with the crowning of the most beautiful lady amongst the one-hundred twenty one contestants competing at the event, Rolene Strauss, the reigning Miss World South Africa 2014! Megan Young from Philippines, the Miss World 2013, crowned Rolene Strauss as the new Miss World! Rolene, 22 years of age is a medical student and aspires to be a doctor. Waving to the spectators she said "South Africa this is for you,”. After a long gap of 40 years South Africa made it to the coveted crown. The last Miss World title victory for South Africa was in the year 1974 when Anneline Kriel was crowned Miss World 1974, after the resignation of Helen Morgan from UK who was originally crowned Miss World 1974. At the Miss World 2014 preliminary events Rolene Strauss was giving her best, having secured Top 5 finalist place at Beach Fashion and Sports & Fitness challenge events. She was also amongst Top 10 finalists list in Beauty with a Purpose project and Top 10 people’s choice contestants. Edina Kulcsár from Hungary finished as first runner-up and Elizabeth Safrit from United States of America secured third place. With this amazing victory we can surely say "Waka Waka! It’s time for Africa!"
