Tips for first-time applicants
How to become an Angel
- 01
Check you are eligible
Every pageant sets its own rules on age, nationality or residency, marital status and sometimes height. Read them before you apply so your entry is not turned away.
- 02
Apply early
Note the opening date and the deadline, and send your application well before the last day. Late or incomplete entries are rarely accepted.
- 03
Prepare your photos and papers
Most applications ask for a recent headshot and a full-length photo with little make-up, plus proof of age and identity. Keep them ready.
- 04
Know your story and your cause
Judges look for a woman with a purpose. Choose an advocacy you truly care about and be able to say what you have done for it.
- 05
Practise the interview
The interview often decides the crown. Rehearse speaking about yourself, follow current affairs, and practise answering questions calmly and clearly.
- 06
Work on your walk and presence
Practise walking in heels, posing and turning on stage. A confident, natural walk is noticed in every round, from swimsuit to evening gown.
- 07
Look after your health
Keep a steady routine of exercise, sleep and balanced food. Pageant weeks are long and demanding, so build your stamina before you go.
- 08
Mind your online image
Organisers and judges look at social media. Keep your profiles public-friendly and use them to share your journey and your cause.
- 09
Start where you are
Many queens began at local or national level before an international crown. Every pageant you enter teaches you something for the next one.
