Below are a few interesting facts about Miss Earth pageant- 1. Miss Earth is the most recent entry to Big 4 pageants, having made its debut in the year 2001, and has been held every year since then. 2. Miss Earth winners till date have come from five continents - North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Europe. No country from Oceania has ever won any Miss Earth title. 3. The first ever Miss Earth title was won by Denmark in 2001, when Catharina Svensson was crowned Miss Earth 2001. 4. Beauties from South America have won the maximum Miss Earth title till date, in fact majority of the titles so far (7 out of 13) 5. Venezuela and Brazil have held the record for maximum Miss Earth titles, with each of them having won two titles till date.6. Africa got its first and only Miss Earth title in the year 2002, when the winner Džejla Glavović of Bosnia and Herzegovina was dethroned, and her runner-up Winfred Adah Omwakwe of Kenya was crowned the winner. 7. Philippines won its first and only Miss Earth title in the year 2008, when Karla Henry was crowned Miss Earth 2008.8. Sixteenth entry to our Top Sixteen (16) Hot Picks for Miss Earth 2014 is Miss Earth India 2014 Alankrita Sahai. Alankrita is 20 years of age, 165cm tall, and has vital statistics of 81-61-86. She is a Business Developement Officer and an artist. Her hobbies include dancing, reading and travelling. Alankrita competed in regional pageant in the year 2009 and was crowned Miss Noida 2009. She then participated in Miss Diva Universe 2014 pageant where she finished as first runner-up and was crowned Miss Earth India 2014. At the ongoing Miss Earth 2014 pageant Alankrita was awarded with a gold medal in evening gown competition and with a bronze medal in swimsuit competition.
