Miss World winners from 1991 to 2000
Miss World is one of the oldest beauty pageants amongst the Big 4 (four) international beauty pageants. Miss World started in the year 1951, and since then the organisation has crowned 66 beauties. The Miss World originally started as the Festival Bikini Contest, but an embarrassed British media decided to call it with a more modest name, ‘Miss World’. The pageant has crossed sixty six editions. So, we on Angelopedia have decided to give you an insight to the Miss World winners. We have already covered the beauties from four decades (1951-1990). It’s now time to know more about the beauties from the next segment, i.e. 1991-2000. So let’s flip through and flashback through the winners...

Ninibeth Leal Miss World 1991 from Venezuela
Ninibeth Leal won the Miss World 1991 representing Venezuela. The 41st edition of the Miss World pageant was held on 28th November 1991 in Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Ninibeth, who is also a former super model, became the fourth woman from Venezuela to win the title. Post her marriage to an Australian model, Ninibeth currently resides in Australia with her two children.

Julia Kourotchkina Miss World 1992 from Russia
The 42nd edition of the Miss World pageant was won by Russian beauty Julia Kourotchkina, and the pageant was held in South Africa. Julia won the title of Miss Russia and is also a super model. The runners up were Claire Smith from the United Kingdom and Francis Gago from Venezuela. Moreover in top 5, Wachowicz from Poland and Amy Kleinhans from South Africa were there in the finalists.

Lisa Hanna Miss World 1993 from Jamaica
Lisa Hanna from Jamaica won the 43rd edition of the Miss World pageant. Lisa is a Jamaican politician who became the third Jamaican to win the title. A member of the opposition People's National Party, Hanna currently serves as Member of Parliament for Saint Ann South East, and was Jamaica's Minister of Youth and Culture from 2012-2016.

Aishwarya Rai Miss World 1994 from India
Aishwarya Rai, best known as an international film superstar and the most beautiful woman in the world, won the 44th edition of Miss World pageant. She was a stand out in both swimsuit and evening gown competition, and it was her on-stage performance that won her accolades. Just few years after finishing her reign, Aishwarya entered the Bollywood (Indian film industry) and has since then been ruling the world. She is now married to one of the Bollywood actors and is blessed with a daughter.

Jacqueline Aguilera Miss World 1995 from Venezuela
Another Venezuelan won the Miss World title when Jacqueline Aguilera competed at the 45th edition of the Miss World pageant. Jacqueline is a Venezuelan model and beauty queen who became the fifth woman from Venezuela to capture the Miss World crown. She participated in Top Model of the World 1995, held in Miami, Florida, where she became Venezuela's first titleholder in history. Currently, she operates a modelling agency in Venezuela and lives in Margarita Island, Venezuela.

Irene Skliva Miss World 1996 from Greece
Irene won the Miss World 1996 and is an Athens native. After winning the Miss Hellas pageant she represented Greece in Bangalore, India during the Miss World contest in 1996. The 18-year-old later said she didn't QUITE believe it was all real. "I had the feeling it was just another rehearsal - in the rehearsals; in one rehearsal they'd used me as the mock winner".

Diana Hayden Miss World 1997 from India
The 47th edition of the Miss World pageant was won by Diana Hayden from India in the year 1997. Before starting her modelling career, Diana worked for an event management company called Encore. She then worked as a Public Relations Officer at BMG Crescendo, where she assisted in managing the careers of singers Anaida and Mehnaz Hoosein. On Anaida's recommendation, she entered herself into the Miss India contest in 1997 and won. She studied Drama in London and appeared in a few plays and films. She married Collin Dick from USA in 2013.

Linor Abargil Miss World 1998 from Israel
This Israeli beauty is a lawyer, actress, model and beauty queen who won the Miss World beauty pageant in 1998. Linor is a global advocate in the fight against sexual violence, shortly after she was raped. In 2013, Brave Miss World, a documentary film about her rape and subsequent activism, was released. The film was produced by Cecilia Peck, the daughter of Gregory Peck. Abargil also earned an undergraduate law degree from Netanya Academic College.

Yukta Mookhey Miss World 1999 from India
Yukta Mookhey of India won the Miss World 1999 and became the fourth woman from India to win the title. The 49th Miss World pageant was held on 4 December 1999 at Olympia, London. Mookhey was crowned Miss World 1999 beating 93 delegates from other countries. Yukta is currently engaged in social and charitable causes for the poor and underprivileged.

Priyanka Chopra Miss World 2000 from India
The 50th edition of the Miss World pageant was won by another Indian beauty Priyanka Chopra. She is now an international fame, but her journey started with the Miss World crown. A total of 95 contestants had participated in the contest that year, but it was the Indian beauty Priyanka Chopra who went on to bag the title. Priyanka made her Bollywood debut in 2993, and since then there has been no looking back. Currently, the beauty queen is working on the second season of the American hit series ‘Quantico’, and also finished her Hollywood debut movie ‘Baywatch’ opposite Dwayne Johnson.
