Nicole Alexander Miss Edmonton 2017

Nicole Alexander would like to use her platform to help children in need. Once Nicole sets her mind on something, she works extremely hard to achieve her goal. She is very determined. She spends her spare time with her amazing friends and family and loves the thrill of riding her dirt bike. Her dream is to travel the world. She believes it is important to see and understand how other people live. That way we'll always appreciate what we have because when you take things for granted, the things you are granted get taken away.

Maneet Chatha is a passionate young woman who is currently pursuing her BA honours degree in psychology; she plans to become a clinical psychologist in the near years. On the other hand, Maneet has always kept her childhood dream close to heart, and that is to be an actress. She loves theatre and enjoys performing monologues, as well as dancing. Her other hobbies include going to the gym and shopping. Maneet believes that your determination and will power can take you as far as you dream. Mattea Henderson is completing her undergraduate degree in Marketing and International Business. Having suffered a traumatic head injury at birth, Mattea has learned to overcome adversity. Through her experiences, Mattea is an advocate for concussion prevention and head injury awareness. Mattea believes that passion and dedication to a cause, while accepting your strengths and weakness enable success. Mattea will continue working with individuals and organizations whose words and actions inspire others to overcome hardships to succeed.

Sravya Kalyanapu Miss Northern Alberta 2017

Sravya believes success is not solely measured by personal growth but also through one’s contribution to the betterment of society. Thus, she devotes much of her time volunteering with a number of charitable organizations in her community. She believes that comprehensive education is the ultimate approach to empowering women and abolishing gender inequality. To transform her vision into actions, she co-founded a social enterprise that actively promotes education amongst women for the overall development of a nation. Her company, Seleste Organic Lipsticks, donates a portion of the profits to empower women in India.

Nicole Podgurney Miss Southern Alberta 2017

Nicole Podgurney is a compassionate and confident young woman who loves animals, dancing, and playing slo-pitch in the summer. She is a huge family person who loves playing practical jokes with her family and spending time with her niece and nephew who are two of her biggest inspirations in day to day life. With the help of her kind-hearted mom, Nicole takes chemotherapy hats and adds Swarovski crystal designs on the hats to donate to chemotherapy patients to add "a little sparkle to brighten someone’s day", and she is very passionate about this. Nicole is very excited to be on this amazing journey and cannot wait to see what it brings.

Garima Rai is a graduate from the University of Calgary with a degree in Economics and Finance and currently works as a Financial planner. She also hosts a multicultural radio show and talks about various issues to raise awareness in the community such as rape, honour killing, bullying, gender stereotypes etc. Garima loves to volunteer and sponsors a small school in her home country, India. Garima feels very proud and privileged to be a citizen of a beautiful country like Canada. She follows many sports and loves to stay fit.

Michelle Sharrun Miss Starland County 2017

As a toddler, Michelle Sharrun loved to perform. She began dancing at the age of 4 and continued for several years, until her interest shifted towards equestrian horseback riding. Michelle has always been passionate about animals. Her focus on community collaboration has also led her to volunteering for early childhood development, volleyball coach and is a suicide awareness advocate. She is an active, energetic, outgoing person with a great character who is always looking for new adventures. Her hobbies include hiking, baking, sewing, working out, travelling and spending time with her beloved critters!

Natalie Allin is a very adventurous woman. She believes while you are young you should take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. She loves to travel and has been to over 25 countries. Kriti Chopra Miss Lower Mainland BC 2017

Kriti Chopra is a passionate philanthropist in the province of British Columbia. She has turned her adversity into her biggest strength, from being a youth at risk to a mentor to young women going through the juvenile system. Some of the organizations Kriti has worked with are the RCMP, Surrey Crime Prevention Society and the Fraser Health Crisis Line. Kriti also upholds the role of Head Coordinator for the Canada 150 “Our Time” project on cultural diversity in Canada. Her project has been recently recognized parliament at the House of Commons. Kriti aspired to do her fair share for her community and leave a positive impact in her community.

Phillipa Dutt Miss Fraser Valley 2017

Philipa Dutt believes that empowered women are the foundation of a successful country. Her passion is to educate women, help them believe in themselves, and recognize their worth. She has experienced various cultures and has grown to love the power of multiculturalism. Her passion to empower women all over the world has led her to sponsor women in war stuck areas, where organizations give women a monthly stipend to help with the monthly expenses, while educating them for a year. She is also an active volunteer in her community. She believes it is never too late to bring about change in yourself, the people around you, and the world.

Born and raised in Iran, Lia Fallah immigrated to Canada in 2011. Upon her arrival, she was immediately infatuated by the diversity of Canada, and yearned for the opportunity to connect with and improve the lives of the people in her new community. Lia has been able to create a bridge between the Persian and Canadian culture through creative performing arts and kickboxing, as well as establishing her own organization with the focus on confidence. Her passion for mental health, volunteering and multiculturalism are at the core of her being and motivates her to live a purpose driven life.

Being raised in Terrace BC Marissa Hill has a deep appreciation of the vibrant beauty of unspoiled nature. She loves to travel and meet new people, learning more about other cultures and being pushed out of her comfort zone. Sabrina Jones is a small town girl who began pageants at the age of fourteen. Being involved in the pageant community for the past five years has given Sabrina countless educational experiences, such as being an honorary guest at WE Day, coaching and mentoring girls for pageants such as Miss Teenage Canada, and developing life-long friendships with the people she meets along the way. Courtney will be entering her sixth and final year of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba this fall. As one of very few women in a male dominated field, she has gained a unique perspective on problems and a confidence she wouldn't have otherwise. When Courtney is not studying, she can be found tutoring high school students, working on a new DIY project, modeling for her community, devouring a new book or skijoring with her husky, Ice. She likes to keep busy, but always has time for a cup of coffee with friends.

Magan Basque is a young Indigenous woman who continuously practices her cultural by making her own regalia and hand drum. Magan has also participated in high school activities such as basketball, softball, and dinner theatre and drama. She also practiced ballet and other dance techniques since she was young. Magan enjoys working at her local superstore as a cashier, fishing with friends, practicing makeup, spending time with family and friends and traveling. She enjoys taking part in community events. Rachel Miller earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Neuroscience, and a diploma in Non-destructive Testing. Throughout her academic career, Rachel volunteered as an assistant coach to her high school volleyball team; she also devoted herself to multiple research labs and acted as a teaching assistant. Rachel is passionate about fitness and leads a very active life-style, she has been involved in modeling from a young age. Rachel believes that mental health is equally as important as physical, and is passionate about helping others and inspiring them to achieve their dreams.

Jada Akins Miss Essex County 2017

Jada Akins is studying at University of Windsor and will soon graduate with a Bachelors of Arts in Criminology and minor in Women's Studies. She has competed on the nationally ranked Windsor Lancer track and field team all throughout university her university career. In September she won her first ever fitness competition. Within the past year she has acted as a brand ambassador on behalf of both Nike, at a provincial track and field championship and Audi, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. She has been actively involved in her community through the book buddies library reading program and coaching sports camps for youth.

Karema Batotele was born in DRC during war, which permitted her to turn her fears into strengths, and compassion for others. She has dedicated her life to voluntarism, raising money and awareness for different causes such as the CHEO’s organization, the Breast Cancer foundation and many more. For her actions, she was honored by the Governor General of Canada. Karema has since been cited by CBC/Radio-Canada as a role model and continues to inspire the youth by both participating and organizing concrete activities in her community. Kaainaat Beelut is currently studying to become a pharmacist. She wants to devote her life towards helping others in need. Jurice is a business student, pageant queen, and model. Through pageantry and modelling she gained so much more confidence than she did growing up. Using her title as a platform she wants to give unheard women a voice. She strongly believes that women are much more powerful than they think they are, and deserve more respect. One of her role models, because of her bravery, is Malala Yousafai. Jurice's favourite quote from her is, "I raise my voice, not so I can shout, but so those without a voice can be heard... we cannot succeed when half of us are held back." Amber-Lin grew up like most small Northern town girls playing hockey, soccer, and many other organized sports. She was always very outgoing, and quick to come to the aid and defend those in need. She discovered her love of being on stage when she began dancing. Amber-Lin danced competitively in various genres of dance, winning numerous awards for her hard work, dedication, and natural talent. When she graduated from high school with honours, she took a year off in order to work and contemplate her career path. Amber-Lin has made the decision to become a teacher and hopes she will one day be able to teach kindergarten or first grade.

Alexa Leonard was blessed as a child to be able to travel this world with her family while learning the amazing cultures that surround our planet. Sarah Locke developed an artistic background from an early age and started figure skating from the age of 3, going on to compete at the provincial and national level for synchronized skating. After years of bullying, mental illness and abuse, she chose to dedicate her life helping others. Sarah went on to graduate college with honours, start a career in film, volunteer with abused youth and became an entrepreneur. Kesiah Papasin Miss GTA 2017

Kesiah Papasin’s childhood was not all that glamorous and sophisticated. She was born with unilateral clubfoot and moderate hearing loss. She had to wear corrective braces for a year and both ears are currently aided, but Kesiah did not let her physical challenges hinder her dreams and goals in life. She registered herself in an International modeling workshop to improve her self confidence. One can say that Kesiah achieved the purpose of this workshop, her teacher and friends once described her as “social butterfly” Her career ambition is to become a CBSA Officer, to give back and be able to serve her country on frontier lines.

Kesten works full time at Total Health Pharmacy, and she also serves at Boston pizza on the weekends. Kersten is a competitive cheerleader, she cheers at All Star Athletics, where she has won many trophies. Although she doesn't have much spare time, Kersten really enjoys baking, which she finds very relaxing, she also enjoys the yummy treats she makes.

Ambre Trembley is very family oriented. In January her grandmother suffered from a heart attack and immediately Ambre went to her side in Manitoba to help her. When her condition started to improve, Ambre was able to start pursuing her goals which included Top Model Search Canada. At TMSC Ambre earned a spot to compete at Miss World Canada. Currently she volunteers with at risk children and she truly enjoys helping others.

Sheneice White is in the Honors Environmental Science program, and truly has a passion for the environment and protecting the Earth. Her future aspirations involve becoming a lawyer in the Canadian Armed Forces to help those who cannot necessarily help themselves and to see all the wonders of the world, to experience as many cultures and learn more languages. Currently she works as a waitress and in childcare and is saving to start taking online university courses. She's is very ambitious and loves to work hard.

Shamika Dillon believes that greatness is embedded within everyone. Her life has been shaped by the tragic death of her grandmother’s illness osteosarcoma coupled with her brother’s present illness of keratoconus. Her dream and aspiration is to one day become a cardio surgeon. At present, she currently works as a Personal Support Worker, using this field as the foundation of fulfilling her future endeavours. Currently Shamika is working to construct a charitable organization focusing on afflicting change in the lives of at risk youth.
