It has been quite long time since a Latina won the Miss World crown, and Maria is certainly a tough nut to break at the Miss World pageant this year! Maria Alejandra is studying Industrial Engineering at the Technological University of Pereira. Born in the city, she grew up in Florida before returning to her home town. Altruistic, Maria has ambitions of becoming an entrepreneur, using her degree to develop low cost medicines. Aside from her career goals, Maria has an active lifestyle, enjoying a variety of sports as well as being passionate about music. Angélica was born in Ciudad Neily, growing up in Pérez Zeledón, where she is currently studying Nutrition. A dancer, she enjoys a variety of disciplines specializing in ballet, bachata, swing and salsa. It has not been long when France sent a stunner in 2013, missing the main crown just by one step. Hinarere is another stunner to watch at Miss World this year! Hinarere describes herself as a determined individual who never gives up. Born and raised in Tahiti, she has spent her life surrounded by water and is skilled at wakeboarding, kite surfing and paddle boarding, all very demanding sports. Having studied at the VATEL International Business School, she has ambitions of working in the hospitality industry, and aspires to be the General Manager of a major hotel one day. Aside from water sports, Hinarere spends her free time trekking, reading and practicing her photography. Already making waves by getting shortlisted both in Sports Fastrack event and Dances of the World, she has asserted her prominence in the game!

Aside from her studies she enjoys swimming and other fitness activities, and she loves to dance. When it comes to reading, she likes to satisfy her curiosity with travel guides whilst also planning her next adventure. Aria says she’s not your typical girl and she has proved it! Pacing third at the sports segment is not a cakewalk. A rough and tough athlete, Aria plays multiple sports, from Rugby to long distance track running and hopes to one day represent her country on the international stage. Aria is also studying Biology at university whilst working at Guam Radiology Consultants with career ambitions of becoming a physician after building up her skills and experiences. She loves enjoying hiking, snorkelling and CrossFit, but also enjoys more relaxing pastimes like sketching, spending time with her family, and watching the sun set on a perfect view. She is surely one of the most congenial personalities!

A talented personality with a humble heart, Maria is a lovely person and contestant. Maria was born and raised in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, where she is currently enrolled on a Master’s degree. She is also an avid musician, adept at playing the piano and the organ, as well as singing. Her favourite music is classical, but she can appreciate most genres. In the future she hopes to start her own business after graduating, but also loves to teach, and would love education to be a part of her life too. Having such talents, the girl is bound to grab a placement for Indonesia.

Sanneta grew up in the rural parishes of her homeland, Jamaica. Now a fully qualified medical doctor, she is committed to helping others, and is passionate about the work she does, with aspirations of joining “Doctors without Borders’, an organisation providing medical care to the most marginalised worldwide. Aside from her duties, Sanneta loves the Jamaican lifestyle, embracing all facets of its culture, from the iconic reggae music, to the fresh fish cuisine found in abundance. She was quite engrossed with the visit in orphanages during Miss World events, and her humble heart hints at a power packed Beauty with a Purpose project!

Emilija Rozman Miss Macedonia for Miss World 2015

Emilija is a student hailing from Macedonia’s capital city of Skopje. Currently enrolled on two degrees, she is studying Special Education & Rehabilitation alongside Spanish Language & Literature. Aside from her studies and modelling, Emilija enjoys helping others, working with the Red Cross since she was 10 years old, donating blood on many (8) occasions. Her aspirations are to work for UNICEF, and to use her talents and fame to fundraise for children globally. Not only do her philanthropic activities makes her a stand out in the Beauty with a Purpose segment, but her modelesque aura will give her edge in the Top Model Round.

Anu was born and raised in Mongolia’s capital Ulaanbaatar, the oldest child in her family. A Graphic Design graduate, Anu has a career in graphic design, as well as commitments with NGOs, providing medical assistance and education on health and women’s rights. She hopes to be a role model for generations to come. In her spare time Anu likes to ride horses, she enjoys Mongolian folk dancing, drawing and writing poems. Anu is certainly a uniquely fabricated girl who would love to show the world her kind heart and beautiful mind.

Steffi Wyk Miss Namibia for Miss World 2015

Steffi is a sports fanatic hailing from Windhoek, Namibia’s capital. For most of her life she has played a variety of sports at a competitive level, and is most proud of her 100m hurdles national senior record, which she has held since 2012. A Sports Science & Management graduate, she hopes to further her education to become a qualified biokineticist to help athletes with their rehabilitation. When not on the sports field, Steffi enjoys cooking, photography, spending time at her parent’s ranch, and watching sports, especially the Namibian Rugby team whom her brother plays for! So her winning the sports segment and thereby creating history is not surprising! She is one to watch for!

A Media & AV Specialist graduate, she currently works as a camera operator on live TV shows, and hopes to be able to change perceptions of women working in her field. Describing herself as ‘positive minded’ and saying that she ‘loves to be around people’, Margot enjoys a variety of pursuits, playing water polo at the highest level, performing ballet and going running. A medical doctor by profession, Deborah is all set to show her powerful Beauty with a Purpose project before the world, which will revolve around saving the child health’s equality and eradicating the poverty. Saying that ‘Child poverty and health inequality are issues that resonate strongly with me’, Deborah takes her position seriously and truly hopes to make a difference in people’s lives. Deborah loves the great outdoors, whatever the season, citing horse riding, skiing and hiking among her favourite activities.

Fay is a student hailing from the city of Oslo, capital of Norway. Currently studying Marketing, she hopes to gain a Masters’ in Child Welfare to follow her dreams of helping children around the world. Describing herself as having ‘a big heart full of care for people around the world’, Fay aspires to a life of travel, hard work and providing support for disadvantaged children globally. Being shortlisted in the sports finalist segment, she is also acing the multimedia segment so far!

Having competed at Miss Asia Pacific, Hillarie knows how to project herself at the stage! Her main arena will be To Model Round, where she will certainly rise as a warrior! It has not been long when the country got its first Miss World, and Hillarie is herely to make the second win quite soon! She was born and raised in the province of Nueva Vizcaya, in the Northern region of the Philippines. A Nursing graduate, Hillarie is a caring individual and has ambitions of starting her own foundation for under 5s, to provide care for vulnerable children in her nation. She hopes to use her new found fame to raise funds and inspire other organisations to help her. A dancer, Hillarie started ballroom at the age 9, and more recently enjoys modern dance.

Sofia Nikitchuk Miss Russia for Miss World 2015

Sofia was born and raised in the town of Snezhinsk in Chelyabinsk Oblast, before moving to study Management at the Ural Federal University in Ekaterinburg. Sofia lists amongst her talents cooking deserts and playing the piano, as well as making people smile. Seeing her as a finalist in Talent Round will not be surprising. She has definitely made her spot secure!

Latafale was born and raised in New Zealand by her European mother and Samoan father. Currently at University, she is a fourth year student of Law and Music, with aspirations of a career in musical theatre or practicing family law. An active individual, Latafale is a skilled musician, playing a variety of instruments, and is a competitive touch rugby player, winning gold and silver medals in the sport at the 2015 Pacific Games. Latafale is also in the New Zealand National Youth Choir and the musical director of her local church. She just loves to get involved in as many musical ventures as possible. She was praised and honored by her Prime Minister himself before she headed to Sanya! Being shortlisted in the Dances of the World and Sports Segment, she is emerging as a new favorite amongst the pageant enthusiasts.

Liesl Laurie Miss South Africa for Miss World 2015

Liesl was born and raised in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg. A General Accounting & Human Resource Management graduate, she has aspirations of a career as a radio host, and has already began working towards that goal. Liesl is trying quite nicely to make her predecessor Rolene Strauss proud by performing outstanding at the pageant! She has been shortlisted for the Dances of the World currently and has also made the cut in sports segment, which indicates her remarkable performance!

Mireia Royo Miss Spain for Miss World 2015

Mireia comes from the city of Barcelona, located in the North West of Spain. Currently studying Pharmacy, her dream is to further her studies with Nutrition, before setting up a business in nutrition and dietics to find alternative health solutions to orthodox medicines. Mireia says that music and travelling are the pillars of her happiness. A skilled pianist she studied up to grade 8 in Musical Language, Harmony and Piano at the Conservatory of the Lyceum of Barcelona, and she has travelled extensively over Europe and the Far East. She will certainly score good marks in the Talent round apart from the Beauty with a Purpose segment and hence is certainly in the race to crown.

Thanyachanok Moonninta Miss Thailand for Miss World 2015

Thanyachanok Moonninta is a news anchor and TV presenter from Chiang Mai, Thailand. Describing herself as young, energetic and passionate about change, she aspires to work for a major international organization that works to inspire and to help those in needs, such as UNICEF or the UN. She loves her large family, and says her grandmother’s cooking is unbeatable, especially her signature black sesame rice dish. Her family includes 5 dogs rescued from the streets that have grown up to start their own families. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, Pilates and hot yoga. She has a strong Beauty with a Purpose project and like last year, a placement is surely on the cards for Thailand.

Victoria is a third year Broadcast Journalism & Mass Communication student. Born in El Paso, Texas, she grew up in Phoenix, where she currently studies at the Arizona State University. A competitive dancer for 8 years, Victoria loves ballet, jazz and hip hop, and she also taught herself to play the piano. Just like last year USA will again be the dark horse of the competiton and who knows she might take it all.

Sherika describes herself as ‘a joyful, positive and spontaneous person.’ Born and raised in the capital Montevideo, Sherika is a student working part time as a model. A fan of the industry, she hopes to broaden her skills and work as a fashion designer and journalist in the future, once she finishes her studies. Sherika loves music and dancing, performing flamenco and ballet, and listening to bachata and electro music. Anyela is a student from Guanare, in the Western ‘breadbasket’ state of Portuguesa. Highly focused on charitable work, Anyela is a cancer survivor who campaigns for the needs of other sufferers, with ambitions of starting her own NGO in the future. Aside from her charity work, Anyela likes to keep fit by going running and swimming, and her hobbies include gold smithing, handicraft, and playing the Cuatro, a Latin American guitar-like instrument. Anyela is striving hard to make Venezuela’s sash felt at Miss World, and is determined to to take the legacy of Ivian Sarcos’s forward!
