Our coral reefs act as barrier for our coastlines, they protect us from wave attacks and erosion, they provide a habitat for one quarter or marine life, and are a food source for our population. Coral reefs are a vital ecosystem for marine life. Roughly 75% of the world’s reefs are being threatened from over fishing, warming waters, and pollution. In the Pacific our reefs are threatened by climate change, over-fishing, sedimentation, land based pollution, and bleaching. I chose this because Guam is surrounded by coral reefs. They are a vital sustenance for island living, they are critical for marine life survivability, and the protection of our island and it’s environment.”

There is even such a concept of the “seventh continent” - the floating island with the size of France in the Pacific Ocean, consisting entirely of garbage. To save resources given us by the Earth is very important. But very serious problem today is the recycling of our waste. Garbage completely violates the ecological environment of our planet! There is a huge problem of garbage and household waste in my country. The amount of garbage is increasing from year to year in Ukraine because the trash is not recycled, but simply warehoused or burned. It accumulates, poisoning our water, making soil poisonous and inappropriate. Therefore, I am willing to raise awareness of this problem and teach people how to recycle on daily basis and be responsible for their actions.
