Yashoda De Silva (Contestant 1)

Yashoda De Silva is a 19 year old contestant who hails from Colombo. Yashoda studied at St. Bridget’s College. Yashoda has a diploma in travel and tourism and is currently pursuing a degree in marketing, travel and tourism. Yashoda is a well-rounded athlete and excels in swimming and synchronized swimming. She is also a competitive diver who has represented Sri Lanka at international competitions. “I think the Miss Earth pageant delivers a strong message to the world about the importance of caring for and loving the earth we live on. Anuradha Perera (Contestant 2)

Anuradha Perera is 22 years old who is pursuing higher education in the field of tourism and hotel management at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management. She is an avid reader and has a keen interest in tourism and the leisure industries. Anuradha has completed her GCE Advanced Level examinations. “The air we breathe, the land we stand on and the water we drink are not inanimate things, but essential parts of us. We are as much a part of nature as it is a part of us. It’s our life’s work to preserve Mother Nature that gives us life” said Anuradha Perera. Romani De Silva (Contestant 3)

Romani De Silva is a 20 years old bio-student who’s awaiting entrance to the medical faculty. Her interests in addition to medicine include graphic design, web design, teaching and debating. She has an active interest in athletics and swimming. Ruvini Thenuwara (Contestant 4)

Ruvini Thenuwara is 21 years old who hails from Athurugiriya. She enjoys listening to music, she is an active student with a sound academic career. Ruvini was a member of the IT Club as well as Buddhist, Commerce and Environment societies. “The Earth is where we are all born, where we all meet, live, love and eventually die. Vimarshana Kumaradewa (Contestant 5)

Vimarshana Kumaradewa is a 19 year old student of Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda who is aspiring Human Resource Management professional, currently following her higher studies in the fields of IT and HRM. Sathma Nugera (Contestant 6)

Sathma Nugera is 19 years old and has completed her primary and secondary studies at Holy Cross College, Sri Lanka and Cranford College in the United Kingdom. She is currently reading for an International Business Management degree at the National School of Business Management. With an illustrious collection of experience she has garnered in her life abroad and in Sri Lanka, Sathma highlights her experiences of performing a charitable 17,000 ft. to aid the underprivileged in Sri Lanka. She has also composed music for a musical titled ‘Cell Block 33’ during her tenure in the UK. “We should listen to the whispers of Mother Nature’s song. Janadari Melagoda (Contestant 7)

A past student of Buddhist Girls’ College and Bishop’s College, Janadari has completed her Advanced Level examinations in the Bio stream and is currently pursuing her higher studies in the field of General Nursing. A girl with many passions, Janadari is counts reading, jewellery making, playing with children and researching causes and treatments of pathologies, among her many pastimes. “We should give back to Mother Nature as much as we take from her, as it is our responsibility to protect and respect the planet that gives all of us life” said Janadari Melagoda. Nayanathara Shanali (Contestant 8)

Nayanathara Shanali is a 19 year beautiful model who hails from a background with roots in the beauty industry. Her mother is a beautician and Shanali’s interest in the field of modelling is inspired by her mother. Shanali holds an English Language diploma from the Royal Institute and a diploma in Airline Ticketing from the London College of Higher Studies. Fuelled by keen interests in modelling, singing and dancing, Shanali is aspiring to be a professional model and an airhostess. “Human beings are a part of nature and are meant to care for Mother Nature, not destroy her. Nilusha Maduwanthi (Contestant 9)

Nilusha Maduwanthi is a teacher by profession with much promise in a number of areas that interest her. The 22 year old dance student has accomplished many milestones in performance artistry and sports. Having performed at national levels in both dance and sports, Nilusha has been awarded certification as a ‘Kala Visharada’ and ‘Grama Shakthi Rangana Kalavedi.’ Further, she has performed in Karnataka, India as well as at national level dance competitions where she has been awarded for her performances. “We must protect the Earth, not only for ourselves but also for our children and theirs; because this is the only home we have” said Nilusha Maduwanthi. Chamodi Perera (Contestant 10)

Chamodi is a 19 year old student of Lyceum International School who has completed her Advanced Level Examinations. In addition to a sound academic track record, she has also participated in dancing and swimming, maintaining a rounded schooling career. “Change doesn’t happen right away, but slowly be the change you want to see in the world. Harshani Ruman (Contestant 11)

23 year old Harshani, is currently following an HND Course in Business Management and ICBT College. Previously she has successfully completed a B-Tech and an IT qualification, adding to her accomplishments. Further to her academic achievements, Harshani has also been a member of the Choir, English Literary Association, Astrology Team and Help Age, Sri Lanka. Adding to her formidable track record she has also represented her school in Athletics, Dancing, Netball, Volleyball, Water Ballet and Swimming. “To preserve the planet for future generations we must minimize and eradicate pollution in all forms. Visna Fernando (Contestant 12)

24 year old Visna is presently reading for a BA External Degree at the Kelaniya University, simultaneous to following CBF at Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka. Visna also represented the country as a national Netball player and was also a member of the Sri Lanka Navy Netball team. In her pastime she enjoys engaging in sports, modelling and art. “Earth is the one place we will call home from birth till death and it is our responsibility to ensure its safety” said Visna Fernando.
